Groenvlei chalets are situated 9km outside Wakkerstroom on a working farm overlooking beautiful green hills, nestled between the Wakkerstroom Mountains. Wakkerstroom is increasingly becoming the destination of choice for people who want to spend time in an environment that encourages total relaxation with the opportunity to indulge in fun-filled activities. If you need peace and tranquillity this country life is needed.

Bunk Beds

Two cottages are available that varies from a rustic stone cottage. The first cottage can sleep four people. Two rooms with two en-suite bathrooms. The two three-quarter bedroom is spacious with a shower, toilet and basin.  The second bedroom has two single beds, a bathroom with a bath, toilet and basin. A fully equipped kitchen includes a four sitter table, a two plate stove, microwave, kettle, toaster, and fridge-freezer.




Comfy  and out of the way, time to relax.


The second cottage has a romantic setting ideal for a couple. A double bed with en-suite shower, basin and toilet. A fully equipped kitchen includes a two sitter table, a two plate stove, microwave, kettle, toaster, and fridge-freezer.

Both chalets has panoramic views of the mountains around Groenvlei and Wakkerstroom.  Both chalets are provided with dish washing liquid, linen and bath towels, hand soap, toilet paper, coffee, tea, rusks, and one liter of milk in the fridge. Every bed has its own electric blanket and heaters are in the chalets.

The farm activities like milking a cow or feeding calve/lamb are excellent ways of treating your child to the unspoilt environment. The taste of fountain water, the view, the fresh air, all gives you excellent rest.  Fresh lamb can be bought from the farm by prior arrangement.

Activities available include bird watching, 4×4 trails, organised off-road bike rides, hiking and scenic drives.  In the surrounding area activities include fishing and horse riding. Excellent bird watching opportunities in this area with more than 100 species recorded in three days by a bird guide from KwaZulu-Natal.  The town offers art galleries, a pub and restaurants.

All off-road and quad bike riders are requested to read and observe the Bikers' Code of Conduct available on this web site, in accommodations or the Info Centre, and comply with the code at all times.
