Afganistan Talk

Afghanistan the inside story

This is a not to be missed powerful one and a half hour talk and slide show presentation about the history of the warring Afghan people from 902 AD to the present day. We unravel a complex Afghan history that has survived either in its current cultures or in the form of various languages and monuments.

The history, geography, religious affiliations, culture and entomology of a people who have a high regard for personal honour, for their clan loyalty and for their readiness to carry and use arms to settle disputes is explored.

This is the story of various invaders, conquerors and foreign interventions forming Empires, Kingdoms and colonies of Afghanistan including the Romans, Genghis Khan, Alexander the Great, the French, the British, the Russians and finally the USA.

Continuous and brutal civil war from the 1970’s which included the 1979 Soviet invasion and the 2001 US led invasion that lead to topple of the Taliban Government.

Some of the facts and theories which will be expounded upon are why and how Osama bin Laden was trained by the Central Intelligence Agency and formed El Qaeda. Why he became the most dangerous man in the world and was able to master mind the attack on the twin Towers. Why Afghanistan is such an important geostrategic location today to the US and the Western world.

What daily life is like being a member of International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) and what lies in store for the future of Afghanistan and the region.

This is a no rules barred, adventure and journey into Afghanistan trying to dispel myth from fiction and expose the brutal truth of life in modern day Afghanistan

The speaker, Dave was a soldier of fortune at heart and spent 3 years in Afghanistan working for ISAF, the US Department of Defence and the CIA.

We hope to make this the first of a series of informative presentations of interesting topics for your edification.
